Bedroom Design Ideas for Modern Indian Homes
The bedroom is the one room in the house that exists purely for you. Everything else is shared, negotiated or on display. At Studio Rivet we design bedrooms in Gurgaon and across Delhi NCR around three things that actually decide how restful a room feels: where the bed sits relative to the door and window, how the wardrobe is planned so clothes never end up on a chair, and whether the lighting can drop to something soft at 11pm instead of one bright ceiling light.
Browse the bedroom interiors below for ideas on headboard walls, colour palettes, wardrobe layouts and layered lighting. Whether you are planning a master suite, a compact apartment bedroom, a Kids bedroom or a guest room that doubles as a study, these designs can be adapted to your home and the way your family actually uses it.

Bedroom Design Tips
Place the Bed First
Everything else follows the bed. Ideally it faces the door without being directly in line with it, sits against a solid wall rather than a window, and leaves at least 24 inches of walking space on both sides. Get this wrong and no amount of finish will make the room feel comfortable.
Design a Feature Headboard Wall
A panelled, fluted or upholstered headboard wall gives the room a clear focal point and hides the sockets and switches that otherwise clutter the wall behind the bed. Keep it 6 to 12 inches wider than the bed on each side so the bed reads as centred.
Plan the Wardrobe Around What You Own
Standard wardrobe depth is 24 inches, which is what a hanger actually needs. Count your hanging length, folded stacks and suitcase storage before finalising the elevation. A wardrobe designed to look right but sized wrong is the single most common regret in a new bedroom.
Layer the Lighting, and Add a Dimmer
One ceiling light is never enough. Combine a soft ambient source with bedside reading lights and a low concealed strip, all at 2700K to 3000K. A dimmer on the main circuit is inexpensive and does more for how the room feels at night than almost anything else.
Control Light and Sound at the Window
NCR mornings are bright and streets are loud. Blackout lining behind the curtain, a full-height track that extends past the frame, and a heavier fabric than you think you need will improve sleep more than any decor decision in this list.
Leave Some Surfaces Empty
A bedroom fills up faster than any other room. Plan a home for chargers, books, jewellery and the clothes that are neither clean nor dirty yet, then deliberately leave a third of your open surfaces bare. That empty space is what keeps the room feeling calm six months in.
