HELSINKI CENTRAL LIBRARY
Helsinki Central Library is a state-of-the-art institutional architecture project located in the heart of Helsinki, completed in 2018. The project represents a modern approach to library design, combining functionality, accessibility, and innovative spatial planning to create a dynamic public space.
The architecture focuses on creating flexible and welcoming environments for reading, learning, and community interaction. The design integrates natural light, open layouts, and carefully planned quiet zones to enhance user comfort and experience.
Akanksha Rathee was part of the design team early in her career while working with ALA Architects in Helsinki. She contributed to the development of both physical and digital models, elevation studies for material allocation, as well as rendering and lighting studies specifically for reading and quiet areas.
This project reflects a thoughtful blend of design innovation and user-centric planning, making it a landmark in contemporary library architecture.
